Lets talk Fuel Injection...

Unless your head has been under a rock, you know that fuel injection is here to stay. Rumor has it that by 2003 or 2004 Harley will not be producing a bike without fuel injection. Now it is true that in our family cars fuel injection works fine. But for some reason our Harleys have not taken to the new technology that well (the EPA has something to do with that...). In order to pass the government specs, the bikes come out of the factory on the lean side of the fuel curve. Now we all know that to pull any horsepower out of our bikes we have to change the mufflers and the air breather. Guess what? These changes make the bikes run even leaner. Now they start to run hotter, spit and puke, and even ping more. The only solution available from Harley is to do a Stage I burn on the computer. This will help, but not enough. The problem still exists...

To compound the problem, some of us crazy fanatics want to change the cams. And compression ratios. And intake manifolds. And heads. And - well, you get the picture. Now the Harley computer is in real trouble. Of course Uncle Harley makes it easy; if you make the changes, you void your warranty. So, okay, we'll all agree; we will all ride stock bikes, right? Hell no!

Okay, so what's a horsepower fanatic to do about our fuel injection? Well, at this time, the best value for the money is the Power Commander, made by Dynojet. Yeah, the same company who makes the jet kits and Thunderslides for your carbureted bikes. The Power Commander is a plug-in module that goes in-line with your factory computer and takes control of your fuel curve. Now you can build your motor any way you want and have it run the way it should. You can run any heads, any cam, any pipe - any combination - and we can tune it in for you.

Last year we invested the money in the specialized equipment and we took the training classes so that we would be a Certified Power Commander Tuning Center. We can custom tune any Harley with a Power Commander installed. Even a turbo Harley. Last fall we purchased a fuel-injected Road King and started making fuel MAPs. We ordered 10 sets of the most-popular slip-on mufflers and made a MAP for each different set. Then we installed a Stage I chip and went back through the mufflers again. Next we will install the 95 inch Stage II kit and go through the process yet again. Next will come head work and bigger cams and so on and so on...

For the last year we have been making MAPs for many combinations that we have had on our dyno at various events we have worked at. Our selection of MAPs is probably double those available on the 'net and growing every week.

So, here's the deal: If you want your new fuel-injected bike to run, you need a Power Commander II. We have them in stock for the 1998 through 2000 models. They will go on the 1996 and 1997 models, but it takes some extra work (the computer was mounted differently on those years). We also have the Power Commander III for the new Soft Tail models.

If you already have a Power Commander on your bike, find me at one of the events I'll be attending on my schedule. I will either have a MAP in my library to fit your bike or I will be able to make a custom MAP to match your exact combination of parts. If you don't already have a Power Commander, call us and we will send you one in the mail with a MAP already installed. Your bike will have better driveability and more power. The module sells at retail for $325.00. Plug it into your bike and find me later to fine-tune it. Some bikes need a little more or less timing than others, and some bikes will "pop" on decelleration more than others. We can help both of these problems when you find us. And some bikes will instantly run perfectly.

Call or email us to order - we have them in stock and ready to ship. Tell all your friends who have fuel-injected Harleys - we have the solution!
