Here’s the picture of us smiling with one of the newest members inducted
into the over 90 big dog club.
It pleases me to have met both of you back in 1999 in Laconia where you
tuned my bike for the first time. Since then, I swore that you would be
the exclusive tuner of my bike. After some recent modifications this
winter, I traveled to the 2001 spring rally at Myrtle Beach for my
latest tune up. Needless to say, the results were very impressive. The
engine retains a stock appearance with original heads, a stock
displacement of 80 cubic inches, and a stock CV carb. Sounds like a
million other rides, right? So why the big smiles?
How about an 80 inch EVO with a stock CV carb, putting out 92 HP and 85
Lbs. of Torque at the rear wheel. A true sleeper indeed. We were all
very happy that day with those numbers.
Here’s the combination for anyone interested. Behind the Harley Davidson
accessory air cleaner cover is a K&N high flow air filter. The carb is
jetted at 48/190. The original heads were turned into Hurricane heads by
Woody at Wildwood. A crane .600 lift cam opens the enlarged valves for
the 10:1 Wiseco pistons. Exhaust is expelled through 2 ¼ inch straight
Sampsons. A crane Fireball ignition sets the rev limiter at 6500 rpm. A
tune up by John and Sandy and a twist of the throttle makes it work.
Thanks again to the both you, who with your expertise, knowledge, and
personality, are definitely the winning combination.
